To say that the Joaquin Phoenix starring, Joker, has been a success, would be quite the understatement after the film laughed its way past $1 billion at the global box office. Off a production budget of around $60 million, that makes the film the most profitable comic book movie of all time.
Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, director, Todd Philips, has been given the go-ahead to start development on a sequel for the film which will re-unite him with Phoenix to continue the story of the Clown Prince of Crime. Additionally, Philips is rumored to have asked for a portfolio of DC Comics villains to develop films for. Unfortunately, that was shot down, though he said to have left with one other villain now on his plate, which remains a mystery.
