There are plenty of Superman villains in play here, but if the show’s wildly successful first season was any indicator, they seem to be in good hands.

The second season of Krypton premieres on June 12th, whereas the first season is now available to stream in its entirely on the DC Universe streaming service.

Ma Dong-Seok Joins Marvel’s The Eternals

With production rumored to begin later this year, the cast of Marvel’s The Eternals continues to grow, this time adding Ma Dong-Seok (Train to Busan) in an undisclosed role, according to The Wrap. A gifted actor, that many in Korea believe to be the country’s answer to The Rock, he should add quite a bit of energy to a film that’s shaping up to be something special.

He joins Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani, all in unannounced roles. The Eternals is directed by Chloe Zhao, from a screenplay by Matt and Ryan Firpo.

New Trailer for Hobbs & Shaw Now Online

Universal has shared the newest, most ridiculous, trailer for the upcoming Fast & Furious spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprising their respective roles from the main franchise. Taking on a genetically enhanced soldier, played by Idris Elba, the two must team up to save the planet, despite their differences.

Packed to the brim with new footage, guest appearances, and some of the craziest action ever put to screen, this is sure to be a great popcorn flick when it hits theaters on August 2nd.

10 More Titles Revealed for Sega Genesis Mini

Sega has revealed the next 10 titles, out of the proposed 40, for the Sega Genesis Mini. With some surprising additions to this list, it opens the door for many of the best games that Genesis has, which many thought would be bogged down by licensing issues.

The next 10 games are as follows:

  • Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
  • Contra: Hard Corps
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Landstalker
  • Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Streets of Rage 2
  • Super Fantasy Zone
  • Thunder Force III
  • World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse & Donald Duck

The Sega Genesis Mini drops on September 19th, with pre-orders open, and 20 games yet to be unveiled.

New Trailer for Child’s Play Reveals Mark Hamill’s Voice

The newest trailer for the upcoming reboot of Child’s Play is now online, giving us our first glimpse of the killer doll in action, as well as the voice of Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as the horror icon. Rather than being possessed by an evil spirit in this rendition, Chucky will be a secret military prototype, with the ability to control other smart connected appliances through the network he’s attached to.

While that premise sounds ridiculous, it also sounds like a perfect modern day re-telling, in my opinion. Child’s Play stars Mark Hamill, Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Brian Tyree Henry. Slashing its way into theaters on June 21st.

First Teaser for Swamp Thing Now Online

DC Entertainment has revealed the first teaser trailer for Swamp Thing, set to debut on the DC Universe streaming service on May 31st. The trailer is brief, but gives our first look at the Earth elemental in his incredible glory, red eyes and all. The trailer also comes amid a report that the series had ceased production early, having its run of 13 episodes cut to 10 episodes.

Swamp Thing is set to be the next series to debut on the platform after Doom Patrol wraps up.

Showtime’s Halo Finds its Master Chief

After years of development hell, a live-action Halo is moving forward, as Showtime’s series continues chugging along. According to The Hollywood ReporterAmerican Gods’ Pablo Schreiber has signed on to play Master Chief for Showtime’s Halo. Given the unnatural physique of Spartans, this casting makes sense, with Schreiber clocking in at 6’5″. Schreiber’s UNSC spartan super soldier is joined by original character Quan Ah (portrayed by Yerin Ha), a girl from the Outer Colonies that crosses paths with Chief, changing both of their lives.

While no release date is currently set, the series is set to start filming in Budapest, Hungary, later this year.

John Cena in Talks for The Suicide Squad

James Gunn’s upcoming reboot-sequel, The Suicide Squad, just keeps getting more ridiculous as Variety is reporting that John Cena is in talks to join the cast in an undisclosed role. There’s no telling whether he could join the new team, or perhaps face-off as a villain, but either way, this is yet another addition to a film that is looking better and better each week.

John Cena joins previously announced Idris Elba, and the returning Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Joel Kinneman as Rick Flagg. The Suicide Squad hits theaters August 6th, 2021.

Pull Box: April 17

The end of “Knightmares” has finally come with the truth behind all of this finally coming to light. An innovation on Scarecrow’s fear toxin has driven Bruce into his own mind, to face his own fears, and only his greatest fear can save him: the truth about himself. Maybe Batman truly isn’t capable of that type of love. The type that drives a relationship forward, allowing two people to give themselves to one another completely. It’s horribly tragic, but maybe it’s true. On top of that, Thomas Wayne really is there, working with Bane and claiming himself the true Batman, but how did he even get there? Still more questions remain.

I’m not sure what it is, but the mysteries in this book have me eating out of the palm of their hands. Naomi’s past is so interesting, even though we know next to nothing. Now, we know that Dee and her Father are warring aliens who decided to just have normal lives on Earth, and we know that there is certainly something different about Naomi herself. The mysterious black box, and what almost looked like a White Lantern logo? It couldn’t have been, given the small differences, but it is certainly inspired by that.

And the award for best retcon of all time goes to Scott Snyder and Justice League. With an effortless flick of his pen, Snyder has merged the entire history of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and the Anti-Monitor, as well as his motivations and history into the modern age. We now know the true history of Perpetua and her children, and the life they cursed themselves to in order to stop her machinations. That was storytelling at its most masterful.

As expected, even after being eaten by his own Frost Giant Father, Loki still cannot die. Even being digested, quite grotesquely, I might add, in the gullet of Laufey, he just subconsciously will not give up despite his pleas otherwise. Knowing that Loki is indirectly responsible for the creation of the horrible Malekith that started the War of the Realms was quite the revelation. Now, we get to see what Loki does with that information.

That was a jam-packed issue that was full of everything you could possibly ask for. Insane action, revelations and character development galore, and even more insane action. Jane Foster is the All-Mother of Asgard, as Freyja leaves for Jotunheim to find Thor, and Odin falls into the Odinsleep to heal his wounds before leaving for Svartalfehim to destroy the Black Bifrost. This is absolutely fantastic, and easily the best even Marvel has had in some time.

It’s interesting to see the front-row seat that Punisher of all people has taken in this massive war. The anti-hero with the fewest powers taking on these otherworldly creatures of unspeakable horror is impressive, and that’s most likely why that choice was made. With that being said, the usual amount of gore and blood was at play here, and it was jarring in all the right ways given how Thor books usually can be.

This is how you know Marvel is taking the War of the Realms seriously, with these small tie-in stories that show just how many heroes are actually involved in this event. The Daredevil story was obviously the stand-out here, and I’m actually excited to see how the Man Without Fear got a hold of the sword of Heimdall, giving him god-like powers. The Wolverine and Punisher story was also pretty fantastic, but one has to wonder where all of the Avengers are?

Knights of the Old Republic Project in the Works for Disney+

In what is sure to be fantastic news for fans, LucasFilm head, Kathleen Kennedy, confirmed that the studio is working on a project based on the massive video game and subsequent tie-in, Knights of the Old Republic. Beginning life as a video game in 2003, KOTOR has since gone on to inspire countless novels and comic books. This will mark its first foray into live-action territory.

Unfortunately, Kennedy remained tight-lipped on further details, so we’re unsure if the property will be a film, or television series, though it’s certain it will debut on Disney+ in the future.

Final Dark Phoenix Trailer Now Online

The final trailer for the final Fox produced X-Men film, Dark Phoenix, is now online, giving us plenty of new footage from the film. Bringing back much of the cast from the previous two films, Dark Phoenix sees the team come to blows with one of their own after Jean Grey is hit by a cosmic energy being known as the Phoenix.

Based on one of the biggest arcs in comic book history, Dark Phoenix will hit theaters on June 7th, and mark the final chapter in the X-Men film universe started in 2000.

First PlayStation 5 Details Revealed

Sony’s PlayStation 5 lead system architect, Mark Cerny, sat down with Wired in a report that was released this morning to reveal the first details for Sony’s next-generation console, the PlayStation 5. The report is quite the in-depth read, revealing a focus on audio quality, backwards compatibility with the PlayStation 4, the addition of a solid-state drive to reduce load times dramatically, and an all new CPU and GPU combo.

The addition of a solid-state drive in place of previously used SATA drive standards alone will make an absurd difference.

To demonstrate, Cerny fires up a PS4 Pro playing Spider-Man, a 2018 PS4 exclusive that he worked on alongside Insomniac Games. On the TV, Spidey stands in a small plaza. Cerny presses a button on the controller, initiating a fast-travel interstitial screen. When Spidey reappears in a totally different spot in Manhattan, 15 seconds have elapsed. Then Cerny does the same thing on a next-gen devkit connected to a different TV. (The devkit, an early “low-speed” version, is concealed in a big silver tower, with no visible componentry.) What took 15 seconds now takes less than one: 0.8 seconds, to be exact.

Additionally, the system’s new integrated graphics is set to be light years ahead of its current generation, ensuring the new console will not be a mere upgrade, but a complete overhaul.

PlayStation’s next-generation console ticks all those boxes, starting with an AMD chip at the heart of the device. (Warning: some alphabet soup follows.) The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. The GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing, a technique that models the travel of light to simulate complex interactions in 3D environments. While ray tracing is a staple of Hollywood visual effects and is beginning to worm its way into high-end processors and Nvidia’s recently announced RTX line, no game console has been able to manage it. Yet.

The PlayStation 5 has not been officially revealed, but could release in 2020, for what is sure to be a hefty price tag. We know Sony is not afraid to price their consoles accordingly, with the PlayStation 3’s $599 launch price. With E3 just around the corner in a few short months, it’s possible we learn more at the biggest show in gaming.

Avengers: Endgame Final Trailer Now Online

This is it. The final trailer for Avengers: Endgame has been released. With the film 10 days away, Marvel Studios opted to celebrate the long and incredible journey to get to this point. Marvel Studios has changed the landscape of cinema and pop culture forever with its 22-film journey, with no signs of slowing down in the future.

The trailer is light on new footage, but heavy on hype, with any fan that wasn’t yet excited (how?) sure to be after watching this montage. Avengers: Endgame tickets are on sale now, but moving fast, with the film releasing in theaters on April 26th.
