Universal Studios Japan has announced that its much-lauded VR Coaster experience, Evangelion XR: You Can (Not) Survive, will be returning to the park after the current Final Fantasy ride has run its course. The ride itself is a 360-degree VR roller coaster experience, that puts you in the middle of a heated battle within the city of Tokyo-03 between Unit-01 and the Third Angel, Sachiel.

The designers at MCKLand COLLINS have created an loveably psychedelic typeface inspired by everyone’s favorite frog, Kermit. Kernit, as they’ve named the font, is “meant to capture the same imagination, fun and whimsy which we came to love in Henson’s vivid work.”
The design was originally intended for a Jim Henson exhibition at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, but has since been made available in two styles: block, and outline, and is free for download. If you’d like to get your hands on the free font, you can download it here.
If you’re interested, I’ll be streaming some design work this Sunday! I’m not exactly sure of the time just yet, but head over to my Twitch by clicking the banner above and give me a follow to get updated when I go live!
This will be my first stream, so I’m pretty excited to give it a try and look forward to chatting with everyone while also getting some much-needed work done!
Last year was an important year for me. It was massive in so many ways, and helped me realize so many things about myself. In November, I married the love of my life, and less than a month later, we went on our dream honeymoon to Japan, and it was the most awe-inspiring two weeks of my life.
It opened my eyes and made me realize the things that have always mattered to me in life. The things I’ve always cherished, and dreamt of making reality. Each year, I have a tradition of picking my favorite things throughout the year, and listing them in an award format. This is the first time I’ve posted them on Ph LEVEL, but hopefully not the last.
I present to you… the 2017 Josh Awards.

As crazy as this sounds, I actually have some regular readers here on Ph LEVEL, and I wanted you all to know that you’re awesome! I also wanted to let all the readers know that Ph LEVEL will be taking a small hiatus starting Saturday, December 9th. The hiatus will run until Tuesday, December 26th.
My wife and I are going on our honeymoon, and visiting Seoul, Korea, and Tokyo, Japan for two weeks! I’ll make sure to post a recap for the trip with amazing pictures of Japan.
Japan is known for its many flavors of many things. Being unafraid to merge the strangest flavors and textures in a bid to create something memorable and unique. Pepsi is a great example, with their latest “Christmas Cola” being released in Japan on November 21st. Typically, Christmas in Japan is celebrated with a delicious cake, and now Pepsi wants in on the tradition, with a new cake-flavored Pepsi cola.
There’s a sweet, yet tart strawberry aroma in a white cola, meant to evoke the creamy holiday sponge cake, most often topped with strawberries. Enjoy!
I’m not normally one to share music videos on here, but the Gorillaz are one of my all-time favorite musical compositions (are they a group?), and their latest video, a partnership with British rapper Little Simz, is an incredible piece of art. The video takes us through a trippy 32-bit video game filled with side-scrolling beat-em-ups, bullet hell shooters, and more.
Definitely take a look at it, as the design and fluid pixel-art work is absolutely beautiful, and because more mainstream musicians need to try their hand at this level of experimental.
The cinematic adaptation of Justice League Dark has been floundering after Doug Liman left the project earlier this year. The studio has been unable to find a replacement director, and treatments have been sub-par at best, leading to the studio sending the project back to the drawing board.
Now, The Hashtag Show is reporting that Doctor Strange and Prometheus writer, Jon Spaihts, has joined the project to pen a new draft of the screenplay. With his experience in the world of magic and mystics, over in the Marvel Universe, this spells good news for the project, as it still remains a fan-favorite, ripe with anticipation.

Warner Bros.’ DC Entertainment film output has been spotty, at best. The films have been successful from a financial standpoint, but critically they’ve generally been flops, and many have been fraught with delays and mishaps. Now, with the success of Wonder Woman, things finally seem to be on track once again.
Aquaman is currently filming, and Warner is expected to increase their output of DC Entertainment films dramatically. The Flash, Black Adam, Shazam, Cyborg, Gotham City Sirens, and Suicide Squad 2 are all in the works, so we should expect some pretty big announcements soon.
A lot of people have been asking me ‘What’s the next movie in 2018?’ I know for a fact that DC is trying to get three to four movies made a year going forward. If I were you, I’d make sure I’d be inside Hall H this summer.
This year was huge for the video game industry at the 2017 Electronic Entertainment Expo. The major players all brought out the big guns, with some of the best moments and shock surprises in recent memory hitting the stage. It was hard to narrow it down to my favorites, but after some deliberation, here it is.

The legendary Adam West, famously known for his portrayal of the 1960’s Caped Crusader on ABC has lost a short battle with Leukemia. He was 88, and is survived by his wife, Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Yesterday, Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan had their groundbreaking ceremony for the long-rumored Super Nintendo World feature in their theme park. Now, after years of waiting, we have a first official look at what the park could be. The two have released a hype-trailer detailing the possibilities with Mario running around a brightly colored Super Mario-inspired world.
Super Nintendo World is set to release in Japan in 2020.
One of the most wonderfully unique and awe-inspiring manga series ever created, is without a doubt Tsutomu Nihei’s BLAME! series. A one-of-a-kind trek through a dystopian landscape following a mysterious man named Killy, with an even more mysterious all-powerful weapon. The series is getting an animated feature release later this year, and in preparation for the film, it’s been announced that the film has partnered with iconic tech brand, Acronym.
