Snake Eyes Solo Film Finds its Director

While the first two G.I. Joe films weren’t exactly a success for Paramount, the love of character Snake Eyes, played by Ray Park in both films, was a no-brainer given his “cool-factor.” With that in mind, Variety has learned that the studio has tapped Robert Schwentke (Red, R.I.P.D.) to direct a spin-off film starring the Ninja, with a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast).

It’s currently unknown if Ray Park will reprise the role, as it is said to be a reboot for the character, which is a bit unfortunate given his success in the first two films. Paramount currently has an Untitled G.I. Joe Movie set for release on March 27th, 2020, so it’s possible the film even has a release date already.
