A little disappointing news this morning, as Toho has unveiled plans to begin a new Godzilla shared universe beginning in 2020 for their large series of kaiju films. Unfortunately, those future plans will not include a Shin Godzilla sequel. The first Shin Godzilla, directed by Hideaki Anno, went on to massive acclaim, sky-rocketing the larger-than-life character back into the modern spotlight.
The future of the series and its forwarding developments are very conscious of the method of “shared universe”. Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, etc. could all share a single world view much like a Marvel movie where Iron Man and the Hulk can crossover with each other. It is said that each movie can be a possible film production where any one of them could lead a film of their own as the titular character. Shin Godzilla was a huge hit, but instead of thinking of doing the obvious idea of making a Shin Godzilla 2, instead think about a world that can be used for a long time. I’d rather make a World of Godzilla.
TOHO Animation and Polygon Pictures have shared the first, action-packed, trailer for the new animated film, and second in the trilogy, Godzilla: City On The Edge of Battle. The new trailer is entirely new footage with our first look at MechaGodzilla in action, as well as the mysterious denizens of Earth, 10,000 years into the future.
If you haven’t checked out the first film, and are a fan of kaiju films, it’s absolutely worth a watch and is available in several languages on Netflix.

Toho Animation and Polygon Pictures have shared the latest trailer for the upcoming Netflix anime film starring the world-famous Kaiju, Godzilla: Monster Planet. The newest trailer gives us plenty more footage of the new Godzilla, said to be plant-based this time, along with a ton of explosions, and epic battles.
That all of this happens while some fantastic J-POP bumps in the background makes it all the more… Japan. This is definitely high on my excitement list, and can’t wait.
After some incredible fan anticipation, the unique animated Godzilla film that has seen Netflix and Toho partner up has finally gotten a new update. This one is a new teaser poster, posted on the official Toho Twitter that shows the Godzilla we’re getting looks very close to the 2014 American version.
