Some shocking news tonight as The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) are out on the production of the standalone Han Solo film. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy referred to Lord and Miller as “talented filmmakers” and stated that they’ve “assembled an impressive cast and crew,” but apparently the two of them had some “different creative visions” for the Han Solo film.
However, Variety paints a different picture after speaking with an unnamed source close to the production and claiming that Kennedy wasn’t a fan of the filmmakers style of shooting, or their way of interacting with the cast and crew. With that in mind, they’re stating that Lord and Miller were fired by Lucasfilm, and a new director will be named “soon.” We’ll keep you posted on updates to the Han Solo film.

UPDATE: Ron Howard has been confirmed as the new director for the Han Solo spin-off film!
