Sony Pictures has set a release date for the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film, Silver & Black, for a February 8, 2019 release date. The film stars Felicia Hardy a.k.a. Black Cat and Silver Sablinova a.k.a. Silver Sable as they embark on an adventure that is set to be a thriller chock-full of various Spider-Man enemies and familiar faces.
Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) is helming the female superhero adventure with a script from Lisa Joy (Westworld) and Christopher Yost (Thor: Ragnarok). Rumors have circulated for quite some time about the story, but nothing has been set in stone as of yet.
So, while the title for Silver & Black was just recently confirmed, we apparently have some plot details for the mysterious film, as well. Take this with a grain of salt, of course, but S&B seems like it could be a fairly fun techno-thriller romp through a strange universe with familiar characters. many of them, quite surprising. Splash Report is reporting on a source close to production that has a load of great details on the film:
Here are some details about the story: Seven years after Mendel Stromm (a.k.a. Robot Master) and his two henchmen (The Scorpion and The Tarantula) killed her father, Silver Sable is hired by the government to find Felicia Hardy. The Black Cat, a master hacker and thief, has apparently stolen valuable secret information. She’s hiding in the lawless and dangerous triple frontier area between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil.
Once there, Sable ask her old contact Dmitri Smerdyakov (a.k.a. The Chameleon) to locate her. But it seems, the government are not the only ones looking for the Black Cat. It seems Felicia had made a deal Stromm to save her father from a Russian prison and she’s been genetically enhanced. Now, the mad scientist wants his prized experiment back because his financier (cough Norman Osborn cough) wants a return on his investment.
Also in the story: Dominic Fortune, Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman), Roxxon Oil, Sergei Kravinoff (Kraven the Hunter), Lonnie Lincoln (Tombstone) and Charles Standish.
The same day that Sony announced their improbable Venom spin-off film, they also announced another spin-off, as well: Black Cat & Silver Sable, which is now officially titled Silver & Black. No cast is attached, nor are there plot details, but we do have a director, now. Gina Prince-Bythewood, director of The Secret Life of Bees, is set to direct the film, with an undisclosed release date.
Given the timing and the quickness at which these projects seem to be moving along, expect casting announcements sooner, rather than later, for both Black Cat’s Felicia Hardy, and Silver Sable.
