Both Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law may have their hands full with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but after they’ve finished there, they’ll be headed back to another familiar world. Warner Bros. has announced today that the long-awaited Sherlock Holmes 3 will finally make its way into theaters worldwide on December 25th, 2020. It still remains to be seen whether Guy Ritchie, who directed the first two, will return for the third film.
Unfortunately for the third film, that date is set a week after the release of James Cameron’s Avatar 2, so we’ll see how well things go for them.
Robert Downey Jr. took to Twitter earlier today to unveil the official voice cast for his upcoming animation feature, The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, directed by Stephen Gaghan. The cast is massive, featuring the voices of Tom Holland, Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer, John Cena, Rami Malek, Craig Robinson, Marion Cotillard, Frances de la Tour and Carmen Ejogo.
It’s a star-studded cast to be sure, but not much is known about the film as of yet. Hit the jump to check out the image shared by RDJ featuring the characters each will be playing, as well.
After being introduced to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, there were a lot of high hopes for the boy in his solo outing. His first time suiting up was incredibly memorable, and left a lasting impression on everyone throughout the film, so naturally, Homecoming would follow suit, wouldn’t it?
I can safely say that you won’t be disappointed with Spider-Man: Homecoming. It’s a good movie, with fantastic characters. Hit the jump for my full thoughts.
Tom Holland is most likely in some pretty hot water, now. He accidentally let slip that Spider-Man: Homecoming is the first in a planned trilogy of films for the wall-crawler. Obviously, no details have come to light, but this confirmation is good news.
There is still plenty of room to see Peter grow up Parker and especially Spider-Man in the next two movies, and at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the story is definitely not complete, I’m really looking forward to exploring how it will grow, [and to] see what will happen after puberty. Yes, [they’re] going to be exciting movies. Yes, there will be Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. Now, you know, sorry, Marvel, oops!
Marvel Studios has released the third trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and I honestly wish they had released this trailer, rather than the last one. The last trailer showcased the entire film (as far as we know), and basically laid out the entire plot. Whereas this new trailer shows Peter Parker the character, and his life as a friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man. It’s much more personal, and infinitely more fun.
However, given the recent Guardians of the Galaxy film, and its many trailer twists, I’m starting to think Homecoming could be a pretty giant swerve from what we think is happening here. In fact, we know that the homecoming dance will factor into this somehow, and we even have our first hint at that, with Peter running in a suit down the halls of his school and ripping off hie tie. We’ll just have to wait and see. Spider-Man: Homecoming releases in theaters July 7, 2017.
