The Pokémon Company has released the second trailer for the franchise’s first fully CGI animated film, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, giving us our first look at plenty of new footage, as well as returning characters Ash, Brock, Misty, and even Team Rocket. The trailer also shows us the new styles of several iconic scenes from the original film.
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution releases in theaters in Japan on July 12th, with no word yet on an international release. The past tells us to expect news soon on a possible release later this year.
The Pokemon Company has released the first trailer for Pokemon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, showing off the film’s CG animation, a first for the franchise. The film is part of The Pokemon Company’s “Mewtwo Year” – a year-long celebration of the Legendary.

It’s been officially revealed that the next Pokémon film will be out on July 12th, 2019, in Japan. No word on an official international release yet, but as every film has been seen stateside, there’s no reason to expect different here. Earlier this year, a sneak preview of the film was shown in theaters revealing the title 劇場版ポケットモンスター ミュウツーの逆襲 Evolution or Pocket Monsters The Movie Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.
No word yet whether this is a reboot, a sequel, or perhaps just following along with the more recent retelling of Ash’s origin, Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You!
