Metal Gear Survive Launch Trailer

Konami has released the launch trailer for Metal Gear Survive, which is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The trailer gives us a new, albeit late, look at many of the bosses and larger creatures that fill the wasteland of the dystopian world.

The trailer shows plenty of gameplay footage that spotlights playing online with friends, and defending your base from the zombie-like enemies of the game. While not a Metal Gear game in spirit, there appears to be some details that stayed from past games… like balloons? So, check this one out of your own volition.

Square Enix Unveils Left Alive

Square Enix had quite a lot of fantastic announcements during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show conference, with another surprising addition being the announcement of a new IP. The game, titled Left Alive, tasks Yoji Shinkawa of Metal Gear fame with designing the characters, Shinji Hashimoto of Square Enix is producing, and Toshifumi Nabeshima of Armored Cored V is directing.

Quite a dream team for fans of highly detailed mecha games. Left Alive is set to release in Japan next year.

Happy Birthday, Metal Gear

Konami released the first Metal Gear title on July 13, 1987 for the MSX2 computer. Created by Hideo Kojima, the stealth game was released to little fanfare, but found a solid base after its release on the Nintendo Entertainment System. After releasing a sequel on the PlayStation, Metal Gear Solid, the franchise has since achieved mega-cult status for fans.

Happy Anniversary, Metal Gear!

Metal Gear Survive Delayed

Normally, I wouldn’t really post about this, as this game is a complete cash-grab and mockery of all that makes this series so memorable. But, it’s pretty damn hilarious. Konami has stated to Polygon that Metal Gear Survive has been “pushed back a few months” to allow for more polish on the game.

Metal Gear Survive was announced in 2016, and will have a mysterious single player mode, as well as multiplayer that will pit teams of players against zombie-like enemies. The game is set an alternate universe after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prequel to Phantom Pain.
