Lionsgate has shared the first official trailer from the upcoming Hellboy reboot, from director Neil Marshall (Doomsday). The trailer is filled with cheesy jokes, and monster action, and looks like it’s going to differentiate itself fairly well with the classic Guillermo Del Toro films.
Hellboy stars David Harbour as the titular demon, Ian McShane (American Gods) as Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element) as Nimue aka the Blood Queen, Sasha Lane (American Honey) as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell (Hemlock Grove) will play the elder witch Ganeida, and Daniel Dae Kim (LOST) is playing Major Ben Daimio.
Lionsgate has revealed an exclusive New York Comic Con banner for the upcoming Hellboy reboot, giving us our first look at many of the new characters. This includes Ian McShane as Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (aka Professor Broom), Milla Jovovich as Nimue (aka the Blood Queen), Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, and Daniel Dae Kim as Major Ben Daimio.
Based on the acclaimed graphic novels by Mike Mignola, the story follows Hellboy (David Harbour) in the early days of the BPRD, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, as he battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

After John Wick: Chapter 2 grossed over $170 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, Lionsgate has officially set a release date for the third chapter, which is tentatively titled John Wick: Chapter 3, for May 19th, 2019.
Derek Kolstad will return to pen the script after writing the first two chapters, and Keanu Reeves is confirmed to return, as well. Given the way things left, we should also expect Ian MacShane, Lance Reddick, and John Leguizamo to return, as well.
After releasing two first-look photos of David Harbour as the title character, Lionsgate has now revealed that Hellboy is releasing on January 11th, 2019. Neil Marshall (Doomsday, Game of Thrones) is set to direct from a script by Andrew Crosby, Christopher Golden, and Mike Mignola.
David Harbour of Stranger Things is set to star as the titular hero in the film. Ian McShane (Deadwood, American Gods) will play Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (aka Professor Broom), Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Resident Evil) has been cast as villain the Blood Queen, and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0, LOST) is playing Major Ben Daimio.
Slowly but surely, the cast of Hellboy and his supporting characters continues to grow. The Hollywood Reporter is showing the Sasha Lane (American Honey) has been cast in the role of Alice Monaghan. In the comics, Alice is a girl of Irish descent, kidnapped as an infant by fairies, until she’s rescued by Hellboy. Her love of the fairies never leaves, though, and she returns to them quite frequently, hardly ever aging, and even becoming the caretaker of the last fairy.
The casting can slowly point us in a direction as to where the film will go, with many of the more popular comic stories coming to the forefront for Big Red.
It would seem that David Harbour has first co-star. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the first addition to the Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen cast is Ian McShane (Deadwood, American Gods), who is set to play Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, aka Professor Broom.
Professor Broom was previously brought to life by the late John Hurt, who did so wonderfully in both of Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptations. McShane has some big shoes to fill, but given his track record, this casting is perfection.
It looks like Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen officially has a studio. Splash Report has sources stating that Lionsgate is finalizing talks to pick up the film for distribution, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Lionsgate is currently the only major studio without a serious franchise, so Hellboy would be a boon for them.
Hellboy: Rise of the BloodQueen will star David Harbour of Stranger Things as the titular hero. Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) will direct from a script from Andrew Cosby (Eureka), Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola. Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin will produce with Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment.
