The much-lauded X-Men series, Legion, is ending with its third season, but that’s not stopping them from going out with a bang. Showrunner, Noah Hawley, has tweeted that the show will introduce two major characters: Professor Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller, the parents of David Haller. British actor, Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) has been cast as Professor X, while Stephanie Corneliussen (Mr. Robot) will portray Gabrielle.
In the comics, Professor X met Gabrielle while working at a mental hospital with Magneto. The two grew close after Xavier drew her out of her catatonic state, eventually having a child together. That child would eventually grow to become most powerful mutant on Earth, Legion.
Two Brainiac’s in less than a week! It’s been revealed that Supergirl has cast Jesse Rath (Defiance) in season three as Brainiac-5, a reformed Brainiac from the year 3000, who is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. It’s set to be a recurring role in the DC Comics adaptation, and ensures the arrival of the future team of heroes in the future.
Brainiac-5 will appear in episode 10 of this season of Supergirl, titled “Legion of Super Heroes” (was there ever any doubt?).
It appears that the upcoming season of Supergirl is headed to the 31st Century, as Legion of Superheroes co-founder, Saturn Girl has been cast in the 3rd season of the hit series. Actress Amy Jackson has been cast to play the telepathic hero.
Amy Jackson is an accomplished Bollywood actress, making her American debut. The third season of Supergirl premieres October 9th.
Mads Mikkelsen has been an actor on the rise for quite some time, now. The last few years have been a boon for him with prominent roles in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Doctor Strange, the cult-hit television show, Hannibal, and the much anticipated video game Death Stranding from director Hideo Kojima.
Now, an interview with Screen Geek shows he’s circling the newly announced role of Victor Von Doom in Noah Hawley’s (Legion, Fargo) upcoming solo adaptation. Mikkelsen famously auditioned for the role of Reed Richards in Josh Trank’s disastrous Fantastic Four reboot, with no lines and ridiculous movements expected, he walked out on the audition in frustration.
Yeah, it’s always interesting. They are experimenting with doing some of the villain’s stories as well. Let’s see if they do that. I’m not familiar that they’ve done it with anyone yet. They haven’t done it with The Joker [and] they haven’t done it with The Penguin. So we’ll see when that day comes. Well, I hope that all characters have a little more rounded shape in the sense that they have two sides of the coin. Yes, they are villains. Hannibal is a baddie – but at the same time, we kind of like him. I think all characters – goodies or baddies, should have a little of both and I think that every actor looks for that in a character.
FX has announced that Saïd Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman) has joined the cast of Legion Season 2 in the role of the Shadow King, who was previously seen in the form of “the Devil with the Yellow Eyes,” The World’s Angriest Boy in the World, and Aubrey Plaza’s Lenny.
[The Shadow King is a] villain with a thousand faces. In his real form, he is always nattily dressed. Dapper with a thin Clark Gable style mustache. His eyes forever hidden behind a pair of ornate sunglasses. He was hip long before there was such an idea. He can seductively hold court on any topic and in any language, but his true passion lies in the singular timeless notion of power and amassing as much of it as possible…It is rumored he is the spawn of the first nightmare, which is fitting because fear is his weapon of choice in exposing weakness in others. To Farouk, fear equals weakness and he fears nothing. Which is why he takes such delight in seeing others squirm — a reminder he is more powerful than them.
