Kingsman: The Great Games Adds to Its Impressive Cast

Matthew Vaughan’s upcoming prequel, Kingsman: The Great Game, has added a few more big names it its cast, according to Empire Online. That comes in the form of Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla) and Gemma Arterton (Byzantium). No details on their roles as of yet, but they will join Charles Dance, Daniel Bruhl, and Ralph Fiennes in what is shaping up to be quite an impressive ensemble cast. 

Kingsman: The Great Game is rumored to take place during World War I and explore the formation of the Kingsman using famous figures from history to twist things in surprising ways.

Casting Begins for Kingsman: The Great Game

According to Collider, Matthew Vaughn’s World War I prequel to the Kingsman franchise, Kingsman: The Great Game, continues to move forward, as it enlists two heavy-hitter actors with the addition of Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War) and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones). Additionally, Rhys Ifans has also begun early talks to join the film.

Currently, their roles are being kept secret, though Ifan is said to be a “dangerous and manipulative Russian mystic.” Currently, it’s unclear if the rumored Kingsman 3 will continue after comments by star, Taron Egerton, most likely replaced by Kingsman: The Great Game. Hopefully we have some answers on that uncertainty, soon.

Taron Egerton Not Returning for Kingsman 3

In what is most certainly a surprise, given his rising star, Taron Egerton revealed while promoting his upcoming film, Robin Hood, that he will not be returning to the role of Eggsy in Kingsman 3 for Matthew Vaughn. Kingsman 3 is currently set for a November 9th, 2019 release, and the cast is slowly being revealed with names like Brad Pitt and Ralph Fiennes rumored to star.

“I don’t know how hot off the press this is, and I think I’m allowed to say it, but I’m not in the next Kingsman movie. We’re still very much in business together, but his next journey in that world doesn’t involve me.”

Kingsman Prequel Rumored for 2020

Fox is officially in a mad dash to milk as much money as possible from its many franchises, as it is now being rumored that a Kingsman prequel starring Ralph Fiennes and Harris Dickinson is in the works, set for an early 2019 production start date, with a 2020 release. The rumored title is Kingsman: The Great Game, with Matthew Vaughn to return to direct.

The prequel is said to be set in World War I, and Vaughn will pull double duty, directing Kingsman: The Great Game immediately after wrapping Kingsman 3. Keep in mind, this is all still rumor, and could change at any time with the shifting landscape, right now.

Kingsman 3 Officially Announced

20th Century Fox has announced that Matthew Vaughn will return to write and direct Kingsman 3, with Taron Egerton and Colin Firth returning to reprise their roles from the first two films. Also, while unconfirmed, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges are also rumored to return in some capacity. The third film in the series is surmised to be the “conclusion of the Harry Hart/Eggsy relationship.”

The pending Disney is not expected to have any bearing on the release or production of the film, as Kingsman 3 will hit theaters on November 9th, 2019, with a production start date of early 2019.

New Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer

20th Century Fox has unveiled a new Red Band trailer Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and while not particularly story-heavy, it emphasizes what we already knew to be true: this film is going to be a hell of a lot of fun. We get confirmation that Colin Firth’s Harry Hart will be back in action assisting his friends, and we know that Julianne Moore’s Poppy will be the destruction of the Kingsman.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn from a script by Jane Goldman and Vaughn, and based on the graphic novel The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman: The Golden Circle stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry with Sir Elton John, and Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges. It hits theaters on September 22.
