A new trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising has debuted, promoting the film’s appropriate release on IMAX. The trailer is 2 and a half minutes of literal non-stop action, and spoils a whole lot of the movie. At least that’s what we’re led to believe. The IMAX version of Pacific Rim: Uprising will be digitally remastered, to help put you right in the middle of the giant robot action.
Pacific Rim: Uprising hits theaters on March 23rd.
Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures have released the new Pacific Rim: Uprising trailer, which you can watch in the player above. The new trailer gives us more specifics to its mysterious story, with confirmation that the Kaiju were able to re-enter our world thanks to the machinations of an unseen force on our side of the breach.
The trailer is heavy on action, light on story (still), but does a good job of selling the movie ahead of its release on March 23rd.
During the official New York Comic-Con panel for Pacific Rim: Uprising, the cast of the film unveiled the first full trailer, giving us a look at what to expect in the film next year. Pacific Rim Uprising takes place 10 years after the Battle of the Breach that occurred in the first film. The Jaeger program has become the Earth’s leading defense force, now called the Pan-Pacific Defense Force. Jake Pentecost ( John Boyega), son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba), has been brought back into the fold by his adoptive sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), now leading the PPDF, to prepare for the next wave of Kaiju threats.

Well, the apocalypse was cancelled, and the second apocalypse has been delayed, as Pacific Rim: Uprising has been pushed back from February 23, 2018 to March 23, 2018. The news, first reported by Variety, was later confirmed by director, Steven DeKnight.
This is the third time the film has been delayed since it was originally announced in June 2012, shifting from several titles to its current form. The first trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising is expected to debut soon.
The first trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising gives us no story, but instead focuses on what we came for: beautiful, gigantic Jaegers. The Jaegers, giant robots from the first film that were used to fight kaiju, are getting an upgrade in this film, with the focus on newer models, instead of the previously older, Gipsy Danger. The new primary Jaeger is Gipsy Avenger, piloted by John Boyega’s character. There’s also Guardian Bravo, Titan Redeemer, Bracer Phoenix, and Saber Athena.
We also have a new viral website for the film, revealing blueprints of the new Jaeger styles, and confirming that Pacific Rim: Uprising is set 10 years after the original. Pacific Rim: Uprising is currently expected to hit theaters February 23, 2018.
