Roald Dahl’s Classic The Witches Getting Rebooted

witches

Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book, Beware The Witches, has already received a star-studded film adaptation starring Anjelica Huston in 1990. But, it seems Hollywood has grand ideas for a reboot, as Robert Zemeckis is now tapped to write and direct a new adaptation of the book, according to Variety.

Additionally, award-winning directors Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) and Guillermo Del Toro (The Shape of Water) are both set as producers on the film. No release date is set, but hopefully we hear more, soon.

The Shape of Water First Official Trailer

The latest project from acclaimed director, Guillermo Del Toro, is yet another original passion project for the filmmaker. The film, written and directed by Del Toro, stars a young mute woman (Sally Hawkins), whose job it is to clean a restricted government lab, but discovers and quickly falls in love with an aquatic creature being experimented on at the lab.

It looks like a fantastic film, with hints of Abe Sapien, and the immensely underrated City of Ember all at play here. The film also stars Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Del Toro mainstay Doug Jones. The Shape of Water hits theaters December 8th.

Hellboy Getting an R-Rated Reboot

HB

Let’s start with the bad news: we are absolutely 100% not seeing Ron Perlman reprise his role as Big Red, with Guillermo Del Toro at the helm of Hellboy 3. That’s not happening. However, let’s move on to the good news. Hellboy is getting a rated R reboot, with director Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent, Constantine, Doomsday) at the helm. The other amazing bit? Stranger Things star, David Harbour, has been cast as Hellboy.

The working title is currently Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, based on a script written by Mike Mignola, Andrew Cosby, and Christopher Golden. Millennium is in talks with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for the film, as well Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment. Currently, there’s no news regarding the story of the film itself, or any additional casting, but so far, while not Hellboy 3. This sounds fucking rad.
