The much-lauded X-Men series, Legion, is ending with its third season, but that’s not stopping them from going out with a bang. Showrunner, Noah Hawley, has tweeted that the show will introduce two major characters: Professor Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller, the parents of David Haller. British actor, Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) has been cast as Professor X, while Stephanie Corneliussen (Mr. Robot) will portray Gabrielle.
In the comics, Professor X met Gabrielle while working at a mental hospital with Magneto. The two grew close after Xavier drew her out of her catatonic state, eventually having a child together. That child would eventually grow to become most powerful mutant on Earth, Legion.
FX has shared the first full trailer for the upcoming American reboot/addition to the Taika Waititi-directed comedy film universe. Vampires, Werewolves, and… Energy Vampires run amok in this hilarious series as Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) are a trio of vampires living in New York City, struggling to adapt to the modern day world.
What We Do In The Shadows debuts on FX on March 27th.
If you haven’t seen the film What We Do In The Shadows from director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and starring Waititi and Jemaine Clement of Flight of the Conchords fame, it’s absolutely worth a watch. A hilariously dark comedy about an inept group of vampires in the modern world.
With its success, an American reboot was inevitable, but this time the original team is still involved as the series takes place in the same world, rather than acting as a reboot. Check out the video above for a first look, and hit the jump to check out a second look.
It’s been a rough go of things between Donald Glover and FX after the company cancelled plans the creator’s upcoming Deadpool animated series. After the announcement was made, the actor leaked a 15-page script for the series, which has been called fantastic. Now, Titmouse, one of the animation studios originally hoping to get the series (Floyd County of Archer fame won the contract) has released their reel of test footage for the world to see.
The test footage utilizes dialogue from Ryan Reynolds’ live-action adaptation, with animation going back and forth between finished and unfinished. It’s everything you’d expect from Deadpool, and works surprisingly well. Hit the jump to check it out.
FX has announced that Saïd Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman) has joined the cast of Legion Season 2 in the role of the Shadow King, who was previously seen in the form of “the Devil with the Yellow Eyes,” The World’s Angriest Boy in the World, and Aubrey Plaza’s Lenny.
[The Shadow King is a] villain with a thousand faces. In his real form, he is always nattily dressed. Dapper with a thin Clark Gable style mustache. His eyes forever hidden behind a pair of ornate sunglasses. He was hip long before there was such an idea. He can seductively hold court on any topic and in any language, but his true passion lies in the singular timeless notion of power and amassing as much of it as possible…It is rumored he is the spawn of the first nightmare, which is fitting because fear is his weapon of choice in exposing weakness in others. To Farouk, fear equals weakness and he fears nothing. Which is why he takes such delight in seeing others squirm — a reminder he is more powerful than them.
The Merc with a Mouth is taking his entertainment empire to the small screen, with word that Donald Glover is extending his FXX partnership, and producing an adult animated series starring Deadpool. Glover is coming off the success of his award-winning show, Atlanta, and continuing the whirlwind year he’s been having, leading the charge on the 10-episode first season.
Marvel and FXX are also hoping to ride off the success of their absolutely incredible partnership with Legion. There’s been no confirmation of voice talents, or who else is producing the series, but with its debut set for 2018, we should be hearing word soon.
