New Captain Marvel Trailer Released

Marvel Studios revealed the second full trailer for Captain Marvel during last night’s Monday Night Football game, and it gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the story for the film, as well as our first glimpse of Carol Danvers at full power. The story is set in 1995, as Carol finds herself caught in a war between two galactic races, the Kree and the Skrulls, with the fate of the Earth at stake.

Additionally, the trailer also gives fans our first look at the Skrulls, the Kree homeworld, and Jude Law’s character, Yon-Rogg. There’s even a glimpse of Carol’s cat, Goose, coupled with incredible shots of Carol using her powers in a fantastic space battle. Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019.

Captain Marvel Confirmed for Avengers 4

marvel

Initially, the delay between the release of Avengers: Infinity War and Captain Marvel all but doomed us from seeing the character on-screen until her first solo outing. However, confirmation of the film’s 1990’s era setting made it entirely possible. Now, it looks like our wish may be coming true!

A set photographer that has been quite reliable in the past, has spotted Brie Larson on the set of Avengers 4 for filming, all but confirming her appearance in the film. It’s likely that she may end up in some sort of stasis at the end of her solo film, mirroring the journey that Steve Rogers took at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger.

Captain Marvel Details Revealed

During their Hall H presentation, Marvel Studios revealed our first details on the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. Samuel L. Jackson is confirmed to return as Nick Fury, but he’ll still have both of his eyes! The reason? The film takes place in the 90’s, and will act as a loose prequel to 2008’s Iron Man.

The other biggest takeaway is that the film’s primary villain will be the Skrulls, marking the iconic alien race’s first live-action appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Nick Fury Rumored to Join Captain Marvel

marvel

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been a mainstay, and an important thread in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception in the first Iron Man film. He’s the man who started it all. Despite that, he’s only been a full cast member of a film on two occasions: The Avengers, and Captain America: Winter Soldier.

If rumors are to be believed, we can add Captain Marvel to that list, as well. Nick Fury is rumored to be joining the cast of Captain Marvel alongside his Kong: Skull Island co-star, Brie Larson. It makes sense, given their shared military background, and with rumors of Carol Danver’s powers coming from the Micro-verse, rather than Mar-Vell, we could be seeing a really interesting film take place.
