Exhibitor Relations is reporting that Sony has pulled Silver & Black from their release schedule, delaying the film indefinitely. The Spider-Man spin-off was originally slated to be released in theaters on February 8th, 2019, but had yet to begin production. Silver & Black was set to be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love and Basketball), who also wrote the first draft of the script.

There’s no word on if production on the film will continue, but it would appear that Sony is waiting to see how well Venom does at the box office before continuing its spin-off efforts.

Sony Pictures has set a release date for the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film, Silver & Black, for a February 8, 2019 release date. The film stars Felicia Hardy a.k.a. Black Cat and Silver Sablinova a.k.a. Silver Sable as they embark on an adventure that is set to be a thriller chock-full of various Spider-Man enemies and familiar faces.

Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) is helming the female superhero adventure with a script from Lisa Joy (Westworld) and Christopher Yost (Thor: Ragnarok). Rumors have circulated for quite some time about the story, but nothing has been set in stone as of yet.

Silver & Black Confirmed – Finds Director

The same day that Sony announced their improbable Venom spin-off film, they also announced another spin-off, as well: Black Cat & Silver Sable, which is now officially titled Silver & Black. No cast is attached, nor are there plot details, but we do have a director, now. Gina Prince-Bythewood, director of The Secret Life of Bees, is set to direct the film, with an undisclosed release date.

Given the timing and the quickness at which these projects seem to be moving along, expect casting announcements sooner, rather than later, for both Black Cat’s Felicia Hardy, and Silver Sable.
