First Trailer for Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel Entertainment has followed up this crazy week of Avengers: Infinity War coverage with the first official trailer for one of the most anticipated films in cinematic history. Infinity War brings together our heroes from across the galaxy, with many of them interacting for the first time to combat the intergalactic threat of universal destruction at the hands of Thanos.

It’s an epic trailer that just barely seems to touch on anything in the film. It even holds back on Marvel’s usual depth of key scenes to draw the viewer in, knowing full well that everyone on the planet plans to see it in theaters.

Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Dropping Tomorrow

Marvel Entertainment dropped a massive bombshell to continue the week of coverage and excitement for Avengers: Infinity War with the announcement that the first trailer for the film will be debuting tomorrow.

The announcement alongside a goosebump-inducing video featuring key scenes and trailer reactions throughout the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If this is any indication, then the MCU is going to be pretty emotional for many fans the next two years.

Second Black Panther Trailer and Poster

Marvel Studios has posted the incredible second trailer for the upcoming Black Panther, and it builds further on the rivalry between T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), as well as the mysteries of Wakanda itself.

This is easily one of my most anticipated films for the next year, and it looks like it’s going to be a visual spectacle, with some incredible performances, from some of the best actors Marvel has managed to put on screen. You can hit the jump for a look at the full new poster, as well.

New Comics: August 23

NEWCOMICS

It was a pretty great week for reading, with several new titles debuting this week, and a couple wonderful stories progressing further. Particularly the Jack Kirby-inspired Green Lantern story happening in the current arc, that I can’t seem to help but just absolutely love.

SE

The penultimate issue of Secret Empire was pretty straightforward, with the heroes dealing the deathblow to Hydra itself. We all figured out that Shiny Steve was inside Kobik, but it’s still a mystery if she’ll bring him back, and how our heroes will even react to that. The Taskmaster and Black Ant moment was by far the best, knowing full well that mercenaries are only in it for themselves, and recognizing the thunder of Thor’s hammer was essentially a signal that the tide was shifting.

THOR

I do love fun books like this. Witnessing The Mighty Thor partnered with the Odinson of old to battle Apocalypse was a lot of fun. However, discovering that in the new Marvel Legacy, Odin was married to the Phoenix Force, and loved her even… well, that was quite the discovery indeed. In fact, it was even enough to get me excited for Marvel Legacy proper.

FLASH

I can’t help but feel as if this is meant to be more of an in-between arc for something bigger. The Negative Flash idea is cool, and with Barry forced to work around life with an entirely newer and more dangerous powerset, it shakes things up quite a bit from a story perspective, but I still just can’t shake this feeling. Barry has always been resourceful, so we’ll see just how he gets himself out of this one.

GL

Once again, I am reminded why Green Lantern is my favorite. This arc has been so fantastic, with the Kirby inspiration, beautiful art, and subtle tie-in to Dark Knights: Metal. I’m so in love with this arc because it’s been so much fun, already. Now we’re getting a race between Hal Jordan and Lightray in the next issue? You heard the man: all systems go.

NIGHTWING

So, the New Order is essentially the upcoming FOX tv show, The Gifted, but instead of mutants, it’s metas, and Nightwing is leading the charge. I can get on board with this. A lot of questions still remain, but we’re able to put a lot of pieces together just from what we’re given in this issue. I’m a little perplexed as to who the mother of Nightwing’s child is, though. Supergirl? Starfire? Who knows with that cliffhanger ending?

BS

A lot of twists in this issue, with The Stag revealed to be an army, and not an immortal. Not to mention his plan to destroy Shamba-La, rather than use its power for his own ends. But where does that leave The Joker? This has been a great detective story so far, with two of the greatest detectives, and it’s nearing its conclusion in pretty dramatic fashion.

AC

The issue started off well enough, with Superman and Lex getting back to their roots. Lex transforming into Darkseid the more he used the Apokaliptian tech was a crazy moment, but the real star of this issue was the end. The revelation that it was Mr. Oz who supplied The Machinist, appearing before Lex and striking his ego back down to size. Next month, we finally get his identity, after what seems like ages.
