Ewan McGregor Reprising Role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for Disney+ Series

Ewan McGregor has been vocal for quite some time about wanting to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars universe, even lending his voice to Star Wars: The Force Awakens during Rey’s Force Vision. Now, he’s finally getting his wish.

Deadline is reporting that McGregor will be reprising the role that he took up two decades ago Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, in a top-secret project for Disney+. With numerous novels, comic books, and tie-in stories to pull from, the series could be anything.

A few years ago, director Stephen Daldry (The Crown) was in line to direct a spin-off film starring McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, but after the dismal box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, all future spin-offs were put on hold to focus on closing out the Skywalker Saga.
