Last fall, DC Comics cancelled its much-lauded Young Animal imprint featuring many of its more fringe series, including Gerard Way’s Doom Patrol. Now, the comic book giant has announced the return of the imprint with three all-new series.
First off, Gerard Way is returning to the team he helped bring back to the modern world, with Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds. The new series will see the team jump to the outer reaches of space, for a cosmic adventure unlike any other. It makes sense to bring the team back given the success of the series on the DC Universe streaming service. Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds will be available on July 3rd.
Up next is Collapser, written by Gerard Way’s younger brother and fellow My Chemical Romance bandmate Mikey Way, alongside Shaun Simon. The new series will follow a DJ named Liam James who is given a mysterious package containing a black hole that gives unimaginable powers. Collapser will be available on July 17th.
Lastly, and most excitedly is Far Sector. A new Green Lantern story from Hugo Award winner, N.K. Jemisin, that follows Sojourner “Jo” Mullein, the Green Lantern tasked with protecting the City Enduring, a sprawling megalopolis where billions of people all live in peace because the city’s residents have been made to not feel emotions. When the city begins to feel once again, however Jo will have her hands full. Far Sector will launch later this year.
