New Comic Books: November 1

The art in this issue was insanely beautiful, and delaying the ienvitable fight between Selina and Talia was a smart move to bring up the tension, and take Batman out of the equation. That Batman is fighting to restore Selina’s honor, by getting the charges against her dropped makes sense, specifically if he plans to legally marry her. You know, with the criminal thing…

The idea of Lois Lane being a one of Granny Goodness’ Female Furies is both ridiculous and fantastic at the same time, and just another reason that I love how unpredictable comics can be. This issue answered a good question, as well, proving that Luthor was using Superman, knowing full well that he was the real prophet of Apokolips, and bringing him to his side at just the right moment. I’m truthfully still mostly interested in seeing how Jonathan takes to the new world, as this should be his first time off-planet and on Apokolips.

This is already one of the best books in comics, right now. So many mind-bending and perfect story-twists that make so much sense. Two Harley Quinn’s, with one of them being good, and other an actual lunatic? The rich profiting from Batman’s War on Crime with him being unaware? They’re all perfect, and make an unbelievable amount of sense, but it’s only now that they’re being explored. With the Joker at his most intelligent, no less.

DEV
It figures that The Devastator, the most frightening and intimidating of all the Dark Knights would be the one with the most good intentions in his back-story. Simply trying to stop a deranged and let loose Superman from furthering destroying his world, he infected himself, just as his world was about to crumble. Something about this Bruce still felt almost good in a way, albeit tragically corrupted. The Dark Knights have all been so different from one another, it’s fascinating. Now, only one remains… the Batman Who Laughs.
JL
DC has done an incredible job at pitting the Justice League against their Dark Multiverse counterparts, and it seems as if every time the League starts to gain any traction, they’re immediately shot down. I suppose that’s what happens when they’re fighting a bunch of Bruce Wayne’s, but it’s been entertainment nonetheless. METAL has done a great job at building itself up as hopeless, and it’s getting hard to see how the heroes are going to come out of this one.
DM
I’m an absolute sucker for Deadman. He’s one of my favorite heroes, with so many ups and downs in his personality. He’s often-times more of a lunatic than a hero, and it’s always fun to read. Neal Adams is a legend, and seeing him take on one of my favorite characters in that classic Neal Adams “everyone is bat-shit crazy” style is certainly satisfying. Throwing Batman into the mix? Well, that’s just icing on the cake at that point.
