While we can’t honestly expect Marvel to put the D23 Infinity War footage online, as it’s likely to show next weekend at SDCC, as well. Descriptions of the footage have been running rampant, and it seems Marvel is pulling no punches in crafting an awe-inspiring finale to this massive 22-film arc they’ve crafted.

You can hit the jump for a full description of the incredible footage shown for Avengers: Infinity War at D23.

The footage opens with the Guardians of the Galaxy, emerging from a jump into what appears to be the remains of a planet. Red gas, and debris litter the stars. “Okay, Guardians. don’t forget, this might be dangerous, so let’s put on ou mean faces,” Star-Lord says.

Then, out of nowhere, Thor appears and crashes against the windshield of the Milano, unconscious. “Wipe it! Get it off!” Rocket shouts. The Guardians bring him inside, and Mantis revives him. “Who the hell are you?” He asks. Then, the footage speeds up, going to jump-cut to jump-cut.

We see Loki emerge from some wreckage with the Tesseract in hand, offering it as a gift – presumably to Thanos.

Spider-Man’s spider-sense is shown tingling, as the hair on his arm rises while he reads a book on a school bus. We then cut to him in his Iron Spider-esque suit from the end of Homecoming.

Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange strike go on the defense, just as Thanos emerges from a smoky portal as Brolin’s voice-over bellows: “Fun really isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe. But this … does put a smile on my face,” the Mad Titan says. We’re shown Gamora, in the Collector’s hall, sobbing.

“I know what it’s like to lose, to fight so desperately with all your life, but to fail just the same,” Thanos continues, as we see a tearful Spider-Man apologizing to Tony Stark as he holds Peter’s head.

“Run from it,” Thanos says. “But destiny still arrives.”

We’re shown the Infinity Gauntlet, containing two stones, already. The Space Stone, recovered from the Tesseract, confirming Loki’s alignment with the villain. As well as the Power Stone, from Guardians of the Galaxy, implying Thanos had already razed the Nova Corps and taken his prize. Could the planet we’re shown at the beginning of the footage be Xandar?

Doctor Strange is shown laying down platforms and Star-Lord is jumping off them, shooting his guns. Vision is behind bars. Perhaps for the protection of the Mind Stone? A shot of a Wakandan army which includes Bucky. Captain America comes out of shadows with a full beard. Black Widow is shown with blonde hair. Iron Man has another set of new, very sleek armor, which we’ve seen in set pictures. Even the Hulkbuster armor is shown.

Afterwards, we see Thanos on the surface of a blighted world. He uses his abilities to pull a nearby moon into the planets atmosphere, rip it to shreds, and use the pieces as projectiles.
