Legendary has officially announced that Godzilla: King of the Monsters has begun filming today, as well as releasing an official synopsis. Director Michael Dougherty (Trick R’ Treat, Krampus) is behind the lens this time, with an ensemble cast starring Zhang Ziyi, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Aisha Hinds
They have also confirmed, thanks to the synopsis the appearance of the monsters we saw in the post-credits scene for Kong: Skull Island. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set to release on March 22, 2019.
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
