EA once again hosted their yearly EA Play segment at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year, and it was, admittedly, a straightforward show with many of my predictions from Analog coming to fruition. Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Need for Speed: Payback, and EA’s many sports franchises took center stage. Though, they weren’t without a few surprises with a couple new IP drops from well known developers.

The biggest surprise was by far the announcement of a new IP from Bioware, called Anthem. The title and a few details had leaked ages ago, but we now finally have a first small look at the style of the game.
Another big drop for new IP’s at EA Play this year was A Way Out, the new title from the developer of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. The game is a co-op adventure where a player each takes the reins of a character that both need to work together to escape a prison and put their lives back together.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 took the majority of the show with character reveals like Finn and Captain Phasma, and a ton of Multiplayer gameplay. Battlefront 2 releases on November 17th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Need for Speed: Payback got a few minutes of actual gameplay footage, less than a week after its announcement.
Battlefield 1: In The Name of the Tsar adds the Russian army to the game.
And of course, sports.
